Our medical team includes the following physicians:


As neurologists, our physicians are highly trained to treat disorders of the nervous system, which include diseases of the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and muscles. Some common problems that neurologists diagnose and treat are strokes, epilepsy (seizures), headaches, dementias (Alzheimer's disease), multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, and various forms of pain. Our neurologists may serve as consultants to other physicians and may provide long-term care to patients with chronic neurological disorders.

Peter Re', M.D.
Board-certified Neurologist

Dr. Peter Re’ graduated from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. Following medical school he completed his residency training through Emory University and has a Fellowship in Medical Neurology at the National Institute of Health at Bethesda, Maryland.

Dr. Re’ provides care for patients with a variety of neurological problems and has a special interest in headaches. He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology. He joined Marietta Neurological in 1973 and is affiliated with Wellstar Kennestone Hospital. He is also a member of the Argentinean 1000 Dove Club.

Joseph Hormes, M.D.
Board-certified Neurologist

Dr. Joseph Hormes received his medical degree from St John's Medical School, Bangalore, India. He completed neurology residency at University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, Denver, and Fellowship in Neurophysiology at Mayo Clinic, Rochester. He is board certified by American Board of Neurology and Psychiatry, American Board of Clinical Neurophysiology and American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine. He joined Marietta Neurology in 1987 and is affiliated with Wellstar Kennestone Hospital. He is a member of number of professional organizations, such as American Academy of Neurology, American Association of Electromyography and Electrodiagnosis,and American Society of Neuroimaging.

Alan Maloon, M.D.
Board-certified Neurologist

Dr. Maloon graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand Johannesburg South Africa. He did his residency and fellowship training at University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester, MA. His special interests include dementia and disorders of aging, headache, and multiple sclerosis.

Dr. Maloon is married and has three children.

Nithi S. Anand, M.D., M.P.H.
Board-certified Neurologist

Nithi S. Anand, MD, MPH is a board-certified (American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology) neurologist who completed his 6-year medical school training at the University of Madras, India, in 1992. After three years of internal medicine training in India, he completed his 4-year neurology residency at the University of Massachusetts, Worcester, in 2000.

He went on to do a fellowship in clinical neurophysiology at the same hospital in 2001. He also performed as Chief Resident during his final year of training. During this period, he completed his MPH (Masters in Public Health) degree at the University of Massachusetts. He joined Marietta Neurology and Headache Center, PC in August of 2006.

In addition to his ABPN certification, he is also board-certified in clinical neurophysiology and specializes in EMG, EEG, and sleep studies. His clinical interests include a variety of neurological diseases such as stroke, headaches, sleep disorders, seizures, dementia, neuro-imaging, and neuromuscular diseases.

He has been a member of the American Academy of Neurology since 1996. He is currently on staff at the Wellstar Kennestone Hospital. He is married and is a proud father of two boys.

Thomas Holmes, M.D.
Board-certified Neurologist

Dr. Thomas Holmes is a board certified neurologist who finished medical school at Duke University. Following medical school he completed residency training at Harvard University and a post-residency fellowship in epilepsy at Emory University. Dr. Holmes provides care for patients with a variety of neurological problems and has a special interest in epilepsy. Dr. Holmes is currently on staff at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital.

Angela McSwain, M.D.
Board-certified Neurologist

Dr. Angela McSwain is a board certified neurologist and graduate of Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. She completed her internship and residency training at the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL. After serving the Gainesville community for three years, Dr. McSwain returned to Atlanta to join Marietta Neurology and Headache Center in March of 2008. She is currently on staff at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital.

Her clinical interests span the field of general neurology and include epilepsy, neuromuscular diseases, headaches, spinal cord disorders, multiple sclerosis, dementia and other cognitive disorders. She is a member of the American Academy of Neurology and the American Holistic Medical Association.

Dr. McSwain has a passionate interest in holistic healthcare. She strives to promote the highest level of functioning for each individual by addressing physical, emotional, mental, social and spiritual aspects of health. In so doing, she hopes to help patients achieve a state of general well-being, regardless of the presence or absence of disease.

Rebecca J. Martin, M.S.N., F.N.P.-B.C.
Board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner

Rebecca J. Martin, MSN, FNP-BC, is a board-certified family nurse practitioner. She has worked in the medical field all her adult life, and has been a phlebotomist, ER registration clerk, insurance clerk, and worked in data processing.

She completed her undergraduate (BSN) degree from East Tennessee State University in 1987. She worked in the ICU, ER and ICU Step-down units during her 11-year tenure at Johnson City Medical Center.

She completed her Masters of Science in Nursing at ETSU in 1998. She has been board-certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a family nurse practitioner since then.

She worked in a cardiology practice based in Austell, GA for 2.5 years before changing career paths and joining a neurology practice in the St. Joseph's/Northside Hospital area. She worked there for 6.5 years before joining Marietta Neurology. Her clinical interests include headaches and Multiple Sclerosis, but she provides care for patients with a wide variety of neurological problems.

Rebecca is married, and has 3 "four-legged children."
